Fernando Tatis Jr. Joins Elite Company By Hitting Milestone Home Run on Wednesday

The San Diego Padres beat the Colorado Rockies on Wednesday afternoon as Fernando Tatis Jr. hit a milestone home run in his career.

The San Diego Padres beat the Colorado Rockies on Wednesday afternoon by a score of 11-1.

The win moved San Diego to within a game of .500 at 54-55 on the year. The blowout was powered by multi-hit efforts from four different Padres players, and by Fernando Tatis Jr. who went 1-for-4 with a home run and three RBI.

The home run was Tatis Jr.'s 100th of his career, putting him in elite baseball history.

Per Sarah Langs of MLB.com:

Fewest career games to reach 100 HR:

Ryan Howard: 325

Pete Alonso: 347

Gary Sanchez: 355

Fernando Tatis Jr.: 362

Tatis Jr. is hitting .270 this season with 19 homers and 58 RBI. He's also stolen 17 bases. He didn't even debut this season until the end of April after finishing out a PED suspension.

One of the best young talents in the game, Tatis Jr. appears all the way back after that suspension and an injury cost him all of 2022.

For his career, he's a .287 hitter with the 100 homers and 253 RBI.

San Diego has won eight of its last 10 games and sits 8.0 games back in the National League West. They also sit 4.0 games back in the wild card chase, as of this posting, and just added valuable pieces at the trade deadline as they make a run at the postseason.

The Padres will be off on Thursday before opening a critical divisional series on Friday night against the Los Angeles Dodgers.

First pitch is set for 9:40 p.m. ET.
