The San Francisco Giants beat the Texas Rangers on Sunday afternoon by a score of 3-2. The game was won in extra innings when Giants catcher Patrick Bailey hit a two-run home run off Will Smith.

For Bailey, it was his sixth home run of the season and it gave him 38 RBIs. The blast also put the Giants in baseball history, per ESPN Stats & Info:

The Giants are the first team in MLB history to have two different rookie catchers hit a walk-off HR in a season. Patrick Bailey today Blake Sabol on April 25

The win was also huge for the Giants, who are battling in a crowded National League for a possible playoff berth. After the victory, they are 63-55. They have fallen all the way back to 8.5 games behind the Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League West but they hold the second wild card spot currently. They trail the Philadelphia Phillies by 1.5 games for the top spot.

Bailey went 2-for-5 on Sunday and is now hitting .267 this season. He's added a .314 on-base percentage.

The Giants will start a series on Monday night with another playoff hopeful, the Tampa Bay Rays.

First pitch from Oracle Park will be 9:45 p.m. ET as Tyler Glasnow (Rays) pitches against Ryan Walker (SF).

Glasnow is 5-3 with a 3.15 ERA while Walker is 4-1 with a 2.40 ERA.

The Rays currently hold the top spot in the American League wild card picture but they enter the game with all sorts of controversy.
