St. Louis Cardinals Do Something Through 100 Games They Haven't Done Since 1995

In this story:
As we enter play on Monday, the St. Louis Cardinals are 44-56 and in fourth place in the National League Central.
The Cardinals have lost three straight and are just 0.5 games out of last place, which is currently held by the Pittsburgh Pirates.
It's been a very disappointing season for the Cardinals, who won the National League Central just one year ago.
How disappointing? Per ESPN Stats and Info:
Cardinals are 44-56 (.440 win pct) this season, their worst record through 100 games since 1995 (40-60, .400 win pct)

For a team with stars like Nolan Arenado and Paul Goldschmidt, as well as young prospects like Jordan Walker, it seems unfathomable that things could go this south for the Redbirds, but here we are.
The pitching in particular has struggled for St. Louis. They've allowed 1.454 WHIP this year, which is near the bottom of the league, and the .273 opponents batting average is also among the worst in baseball.
With just 62 games left in the season, it seems unlikely that the Cardinals will find the ability to make the playoffs this season - they are also 10.0 games out of the National League wild card - and they'll be a team to watch at the looming trade deadline as far as selling.
The Cardinals will travel to Arizona for a new series beginning on Monday night against the Diamondbacks.
First pitch is scheduled for 9:40 p.m. ET as Adam Wainwright gets the ball. He's 3-4 with a 7.66 ERA.
