Shohei Ohtani is Already Breaking Records as a Member of the Los Angeles Dodgers

Shohei Ohtani has only been on the Los Angeles Dodgers for two days and he's already breaking records when it comes to uniform sales.

It looks like the Los Angeles Dodgers are already working on filling their piggy banks to pay Shohei Ohtani's massive contract deferrals in the future...

Per Fanatics on social media:

Shohei Ohtani just set our all-time record for highest sales within 48 hours of a jersey release #Fanatics #ThreadCount #ShoheiOhtani

Now, I don't pretend to know how much money the Dodgers will make from Fanatics sales specifically, but the message is clear: Ohtani is ridiculously marketable and the team will have no problem making money as a result of his inclusion on the roster.

The team owes Ohtani $700 million over the next 20 years and when you factor in things like jersey sales and ticket sales and memorabilia and television deals, they should end up just fine on the financial front. He should bring them tons of money both in the United States and in Japan, where he is also incredibly popular.

In signing Ohtani, the Dodgers are getting the most unique player we've ever seen. He has the ability to throw 100 mph and to hit a ball 500 feet. He's won two MVP Awards in the last three years, mesmerizing even the best players in the world who compete against him.

By linking up with Mookie Betts and Freddie Freeman, the Dodgers instantly become the favorite in the National League to get to the World Series. They are seeking their first World Series title since 2020.

Los Angeles won the National League West this past season but was eliminated in the wild card round.
