The Atlanta Braves just took two of three from the Seattle Mariners over the weekend despite missing two of their best starting pitchers.

Both Max Fried and Kyle Wright are on the injured list for Atlanta, who is in first place in the National League East. While Wright is on the 60-day injured list, the update on Fried is more positive, per Justin Toscano of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

A promising sign: Max Fried is able to do full-body workouts, including working out his arms in the weight room. Right now, it’s just about letting the injury calm down with proper rest before he eventually starts building up when the doctors clear him for that.

Fried has been out since earlier in May with a strained left forearm. It's the second injured list stint of the year for Fried, who also missed time in April with a hamstring issue.

When he's pitched this year, Fried has been excellent. The 29-year-old is 2-1 through five starts with a 2.08 ERA and a 1.08 WHIP. He had only allowed one earned run in his first 20 innings but gave up five earned runs in six innings during his last start.

For his career, he's 56-26 with a 3.05 ERA. He helped the Braves win the World Series in 2021 when he won 14 games. He has double-digit win totals in each of the last three full seasons, and added a perfect 7-0 record during the shortened 2020 season.

The Braves are currently 29-17 and open up a series on Monday against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
