The Chicago White Sox trail the Los Angeles Dodgers, 5-0, in the top of the ninth inning at the time of this posting.

While the offense has been silent on this Tuesday, the hope is that there are reinforcements on the way for the Sox on Wednesday in the form of outfielder Eloy Jimenez.

He's been out of the lineup with general leg soreness as a result of the Sox doubleheader last week against the Yankees.

Per the Rotowire fantasy baseball portal:

White Sox manager Pedro Grifol told reporters that Jimenez (calf) is "somewhat available" for Tuesday's game against the Dodgers off the bench, and that he has a good chance to be in the starting lineup Wednesday, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

ANALYSIS
"We are looking for [Jimenez] to be in the lineup tomorrow," Grifol said Tuesday. Jimenez has been out of the lineup since leaving the second game of a doubleheader against the Yankees on Thursday with calf discomfort, but it sounds likely that the slugger will be back in the lineup for Chicago in the coming days even if he isn't able to play Tuesday or Wednesday.

As of this post, Jimenez has not appeared on Tuesday but his presence would be a welcome sight back on Wednesday.

He's hitting .257 this year with six homers and 24 RBI in 136 at-bats.

Lifetime, he's a .274 hitter with 77 homers and 235 RBI.

The Sox received less optimistic news on closer Liam Hendriks, who has been on the shelf since the weekend with an elbow problem:

Also per Rotowire:

Hendriks (elbow) received a cortisone shot Sunday and will get a PRP injection in the coming days, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.

ANALYSIS
Hendriks had to get both shots cleared with his oncologist first. The right-hander was placed on the injured list by the White Sox on Sunday with elbow inflammation, and while his MRI revealed no structural damage, there's no set timetable for when the closer will be able to return to the mound for Chicago. It's likely Hendriks will be shut down from throwing while he recovers from the injections, however, so it appears he won't be back on the bump for the White Sox before the end of June at the earliest.

If the White Sox lose this game, they'll fall to 29-39 on the season.
