In this story:

The Chicago Cubs lost to the St. Louis Cardinals on Sunday, 7-5. The game was played in London as part of the effort to make baseball more of an international game.

While the overall weekend was great for baseball, it wasn't great for the Cubs, who saw ace Marcus Stroman leave the game early with an injury.

Here's the latest via the Rotowire fantasy baseball portal:

Stroman was removed from Sunday's game against the Cardinals with a blister on his right index finger, Meghan Montemurro of the Chicago Tribune reports.

ANALYSIS
The right-hander surrendered six runs (three earned) on nine hits over 3.1 frames before being pulled from Sunday's start in London. Stroman exited before the blister ruptured, which could give him a chance to avoid a trip to the injured list and make his next start.

Certainly, the hope for the Cubs is not that he won't need to miss any time. He's absolutely integral to what they do and has been one of the best pitchers in baseball this year. Even with the difficult day, he's 9-5 on the season with a 2.47 ERA.

He leads baseball in quality starts and has put himself in the conversation to potentially start the All-Star Game for the National League next month in Seattle.

After the loss, the Cubs are 37-39 on the season. They are 3.5 games back of the first-place Reds at the time of this posting.

The win moved the Cardinals to 32-45 and they are 9.0 games back.

The Cubs will play again on Tuesday against the Phillies at Wrigley Field.
