Here's What Toronto Blue Jays Manager John Schneider Had to Say About Alek Manoah's Awful Rehab Start

In this story:
By now, you've seen the story. Toronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Alek Manoah was hammered for 11 runs in 2.2 innings on Tuesday in the Florida Complex League.
He was sent down to try to work on things and get everything moving in the right direction, but Tuesday was a very tough day in that process.
Despite the results, manager John Schneider actually viewed Manoah's start through a positive lens.
The following report comes from the Rotowire fantasy baseball portal:
Despite his awful line in the box score, the Blue Jays felt that Manoah did what he needed to do on the mound during Tuesday's start in the Florida Complex League, Gregor Chisholm of The Toronto Star reports. "I obviously saw the line score and all that stuff, but I heard that the things we were talking about in terms of strike throwing, delivery, tempo, velo were all positive," manager John Schneider said.
Maybe that's true, or maybe that's just Schneider putting a positive spin on the whole thing so as to not further bury Manoah's confidence, but either way, Manoah appears a long ways away from returning to the big leagues.
It's a stunning fall for a guy who has been one of the top young pitchers in baseball for the last two years.
Manoah went 16-7 with a 2.24 ERA, made the All-Star team and finished third in the Cy Young voting last year. This year he is 1-7 with a 6.36 ERA in 13 starts.
The Blue Jays are currently 43-37 at the major league level.
