The Arizona Diamondbacks, who enter play on Sunday in a tie for first-place in the National League West, are reportedly extending manager Torey Lovullo through the 2024 season.

Sources have reported this to be true, but the team hasn't commented at this time.

Steve Gilbert of MLB.com had the information on Twitter:

Lovullo got the Diamondbacks job in 2017 and led the team to the playoffs that year. He's won more than 80 games three times in his D'Backs tenure and has survived the rebuild the team went through over the last few years.

The Diamondbacks enter play on Sunday at 35-23, which is not only tied with the Dodgers atop the NL West, it's tied for the most wins in the National League.

With one of the best pitchers in the league in Zac Gallen, and one of the best young players in the league in Corbin Carroll, the Diamondbacks are certainly exciting.

Now, the challenge will be maintaining this success over the next 100 games, but they've done a great job navigating the first 60-ish games and have put themselves in a great position.

The Diamondbacks are in a great series right now with the Atlanta Braves, who are in first place in the National League East.

The two teams have split the first two games of the series and will finish out the series on Sunday afternoon at Chase Field.

First pitch is scheduled for 4:10 p.m. ET as Gallen pitches against Mike Soroka of the Braves.

The D'Backs will be off on Monday.
