Baltimore Orioles star catcher Adley Rutschman will have a family bond on Monday night, as he's having his father be his pitcher during the home run derby.

Rutschman is making his first appearance in the derby - and in the All-Star Game - and will be playing in Seattle, not far from where he grew up in Oregon.

He spoke to MLB Network Radio on SiriusXM about what the experience will be like:

"We've taken BP a couple of times just to try to get back in the swing of things, but I think we're just taking the mindset of trying to have fun with it. It's an experience for both of us and one of those lifelong dreams that we're excited to do."

Rutschman also spoke on what it is like to be back in the Pacific Northwest, the Orioles success thus far and if his mom had any advice ahead of the derby.

The longest betting favorite in the competition, Rutschman is hitting .273 this season with 12 homers and 39 RBIs. He's the most unique inclusion in tonight's field in that he's also a switch-hitter. There is talk of him potentially taking some swings from both sides of the plate. The entirety of the field is right-handed, so Rutschman figures to have an advantage by being able to swing left-handed.

The Orioles are currently 54-35 on the season and in second place in the American League East. They also sit atop the wild card standings and will open the second half of the season on July 17 against the Miami Marlins.
