Boston Red Sox's Adam Duvall, Los Angeles Dodgers' Mookie Betts Win MLB Players of the Week

The two top performers from the past week came out of the must-see Red Sox-Dodgers series, with Adam Duvall and Mookie Betts both earning hardware.

Boston Red Sox outfielder Adam Duvall and Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Mookie Betts have won American League and National League Players of the Week, respectively, MLB announced Monday afternoon.

Duvall went 14-for-29 over the course of the week, putting up a .483 batting average and 1.689 OPS in seven starts. On top of his five home runs and 12 RBI, Duvall also added five doubles, getting on base multiple times in six of his seven appearances.

After opening the week with homers in three straight games against the Houston Astros, Duvall hit two more to close out the Red Sox's weekend series with the Dodgers at Fenway Park.

Injuries have limited Duvall to just 68 games this season, but he has still managed to total 16 home runs, 47 RBI, a career-high .271 batting average and a career-best .901 OPS.

This marks the second time Duvall has won AL Player of the Week this season, as he previously earned it back on April 3. No Red Sox player had won it since outfielder Masataka Yoshida on May 8.

Betts, meanwhile, has been named NL Player of the Week for the first time since joining the Dodgers in 2020.

In six games, Betts went 16-for-26 with a home run, four doubles, seven RBI, nine runs and two stolen bases. The 5-foot-9 slugger posted a .615 average, and his OPS was 1.540 despite only hitting one homer.

That lone home run came against his former team, the Red Sox, in a Dodgers win on Sunday.

Betts is now officially in the race for NL MVP, making history almost every other game and leading the league with a 1.018 OPS. He is batting .315 with 35 home runs, 93 RBI and 10 stolen bases.

The Dodgers return to play Monday night, facing the Arizona Diamondbacks at 10:10 p.m. ET back in Los Angeles.

Duvall and the Red Sox, on the other hand, open up another series with the Astros on Monday. First pitch in Boston is scheduled for 7:10 p.m. ET.
