Chicago White Sox' Lucas Giolito Pulled After Throwing Six No-Hit Innings

In this story:
Chicago White Sox starting pitcher Lucas Giolito carried a no-hitter into the seventh inning, but was pulled from Tuesday night's game against the Philadelphia Phillies after throwing 102 pitches.
Despite allowing no runs and no hits and walking just one batter over six innings, Giolito did not outlast the opposing starting pitcher, as Phillies manager Rob Thomson allowed Bailey Falter to pitch into the seventh inning, trying to keep Tuesday's game from getting out of hand, with the Phillies trailing 3-0.
Giolito's pitch count ran too high, and White Sox manager Pedro Grifol opted not to have Giolito return for the seventh inning, calling upon relief pitcher Kendall Graveman in his place. Graveman made quick work of the Phillies' lineup: three up, three down.
Graveman would pass the baton to reliever Aaron Bummer, who gave up a double to the first batter he faced, center fielder Brandon Marsh, ending the no-hit bid.
Giolito's no-hit bid occurred on the same day that Mark Buehrle threw a no-hitter. On April 18, 2007, Buehrle no-hit the Texas Rangers in the White Sox' 6-0 victory. Two years later, Buehrle tossed the second perfect game in White Sox franchise history.
Giolito may not have gotten to finish off his no-hit bid, but he has thrown a no-hitter before. The Harvard-Westlake product tossed a no-hitter August 25, 2020 in the White Sox' 4-0 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates.
