The Chicago White Sox have officially released a statement regarding the shooting of multiple fans at Guaranteed Rate Field on Friday night.

Two fans attending Friday’s game suffered non-life threatening injuries after being struck by bullets. It is unclear to investigators whether the shots were fired from outside or inside the ballpark. The incident continues to be investigated by Area One detectives from the Chicago Police Department. While the police continue to investigate, White Sox security confirms that this incident did not involve an altercation of any kind.

The White Sox are thinking of the victims at this time and wishing them a speedy recovery.

NBC Sports Chicago put more information on the situation:

One woman, 42, sustained a gunshot wound to the leg and was transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center. She is in fair condition, according to the statement.

The other woman, 26, was grazed by a bullet in the abdomen. She refused medical attention.

According to the White Sox' statement, it is unclear whether or not the gunshots came from inside or outside the ballpark. Area One detectives and the Chicago Police Department are investigating the situation.

The incident also postponed a concert that was scheduled to take place at the ballpark after the game.

As for the game, the White Sox lost to the Oakland Athletics 12-4.

The two teams will play again on Saturday night at 7:10 p.m. ET.
