ESPN Insider Has Interesting Speculation on Candidate For Boston Red Sox' Front Office Opening

In this story:
After 3.5 years, the Boston Red Sox officially fired Chief Baseball Officer Chaim Bloom on Thursday afternoon before Game 1 of a doubleheader against the New York Yankees.
The Red Sox entered play on Thursday at 73-72 and in a fight to avoid last place in the American League East, a place they may find themselves in for the third time in the last four years.
Since Bloom took over in 2020, the team finished last in 2020 and 2022, with a trip to the ALCS in 2021 sandwiched in.
Ultimately, the Red Sox ownership group elected to move on from Bloom and speculation is out about who the team could target next. Former Brewers executive David Stearns has already landed with the Mets and the team already said that Theo Epstein won't be a candidate.
Thus, Buster Olney of ESPN stepped in with an interesting theory:
It'll be interesting to see if Alex Cora emerges as one of the candidates to run Boston's baseball operations. He has a broad range of experience, and others in the organization felt he increased his presence in the player development this year.

Cora was the Red Sox manager in 2018 when the Red Sox won the World Series, then was suspended in 2020 for being a part of the Astros sign-stealing saga. He was re-hired in 2021.
He has hinted that he doesn't want to manage forever but he hasn't expressly said that he wants to work in operations, either.
Either way, there should be some answers soon once the regular season concludes.
