Former Seattle Mariners, Kansas City Royals' OF Gets Key Job with Los Angeles Dodgers

Former Seattle Mariners, Kansas City Royals, Philadelphia Phillies, Los Angeles Angels and New York Yankees outfielder Raul Ibanez has joined the front office staff of the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The Los Angeles Dodgers have made an intriguing hire, bringing former MLB All-Star Raul Ibanez into the front office.

Per Farbian Ardaya on social media:

The Dodgers have hired former big leaguer Raúl Ibañez as their new VP of Baseball Development and Special Projects.

Ibanez had worked for the Dodgers previously before spending three years in the league office helping with various tasks.

The left-handed power hitter spent 19 years in the big leagues with the Seattle Mariners, Kansas City Royals, Philadelphia Phillies, New York Yankees, Los Angeles Angels and New York Yankees.

He famously bounced back-and-forth with the Mariners, spending three different stints with them (1996-2000, 2004-2008, 2013).

An excellent hitter, he was a lifetime .272 hitter who popped 305 career homers. He hit a career-high 34 homers in 2009 and also drove in 100+ runs in four different seasons.

He made the All-Star team in Philly in 2009 and helped them advance to the World Series that season, where they lost to the Yankees.

He got to the playoffs in five different seasons with three different organizations.

With the Dodgers, he'll certainly have a chance to win the World Series ring he never got as a player. Los Angeles will enter the 2024 season as one of the limited favorites to win the title after adding Shohei Ohtani, Tyler Glasnow and Yoshinobu Yamamoto this offseason.

LA won the National League West a season ago but was swept in the NLDS by the Arizona Diamondbacks, prompting the all-in nature of this offseason.
