Former Houston Astros outfielder Josh Reddick caught some flack on social media this week after he put out a post on "X" regarding the signing of Yoshinobu Yamamoto.

On Thursday night, it was announced that Yamamoto would be signing a 12-year, $325 million deal with the Los Angeles Dodgers. Reddick then put out the following message on Friday morning.

How do you give a guy $325 million without ever throwing a pitch in MLB

In the replies, someone said "baseball is ruined." Reddick replied "I agree."

Yamamoto's deal is the highest total deal ever for a pitcher in baseball history, so it's certainly fair to wonder if he's worth that, but it's not as if Yamamoto doesn't have a resume. He dominated in the NPB for years and helped Team Japan to a World Series Baseball Classic title.

The criticism that Reddick received centered around him being a member of the 2017 Astros' team that was busted for sign-stealing after winning the World Series.

Man who literally cheated to win a World Series says baseball is ruined because a Japanese player got $300M

While the team was widely panned for the sign-stealing practice, there's no indication at just how much Reddick used or benefited from it, so that message is probably a little unfair in its own right.

Reddick played 13 years in the big leagues with the Red Sox, Athletics, Dodgers, Astros and Diamondbacks. Lifetime, he was a .262 hitter with a .321 on-base percentage. He hit a career-high 32 home runs in 2012.
