Chicago Cubs pitcher Marcus Stroman is using his Monday off day to give his teammate Justin Steele some flowers.

The right-hander put this message out on social media:

Justin Steele is elite. Truly been on a remarkable run. Love to see it. Confidence and conviction. This game is incredibly difficult and sometimes you need to recognize greatness in the moment. Cheers to my dawg Steele on this off-day. Keep going! @J_Steele21 @Cubs

This isn't the first time that Stroman has made sure to sing Steele's praises, saying earlier this season that Steele is the best pitcher in baseball.

Though the Cubbies are struggling through the season's first two months, Steele is certainly not. He's 6-1 with a 2.20 ERA and has turned into one of the best pitchers in the National League.

He turned in another gem on Sunday against the Philadelphia Phillies, going six innings and allowing no runs with six strikeouts.

Steele made his debut in the 2021 season and has continued to get better each season. He had a 4.26 ERA in his rookie year, a 3.18 ERA in 2022 and now the 2.20 this year.

He's already got more wins this season than he had in each of the last two years, when he won four games in each year.

For his career, he's 14-12 on the mound.

As for Stroman, he's also having a very good year for the Cubs on the mound, going 3-4 with a 3.05 ERA.

Chicago is currently 20-26 and in fourth place in the National League Central. After the off day on Monday, they'll host the New York Mets at Wrigley Field on Tuesday.

First pitch is 7:40 p.m. ET.
