Kansas City Royals Lose Longtime Member of Front Office

In this story:
According to reports, the Kansas City Royals are losing Vice President of Baseball Operations Jin Wong.
Anne Rogers of MLB.com has the information in an MLB.com story:
Wong has been with Kansas City for 24 years and just finished his second season as the vice president of baseball administration. Over his tenure, he’s mainly dealt with the club’s financial obligations, including negotiating contracts, roster and payroll management, salary arbitration and the club’s budget, along with day-to-day operations of the Major League club.
He has had a major role in the negotiations of multi-year player contracts for the Royals, including Lorenzo Cain, Alex Gordon, Mike Moustakas, Danny Duffy and most recently Salvador Perez, who signed a four-year extension for a franchise-record $82 million in 2021.
You can read the full story here. Rogers says he's leaving on his own accord.
We don't pretend to have all the information on what Wong's true value to the organization is, but any time you finish last in your division and with the second-worst record in baseball, a "brain drain" of trusted voices doesn't seem beneficial.
The Royals finished 56-106 this season and 31.0 games back in the American League Central. They enter the offseason with some of the biggest questions in baseball, namely about the state of their pitching staff and their ability to develop young players.
Bobby Witt Jr. is among the best young players in baseball but beyond that, the Royals haven't had much to be excited about.
We'll see what happens as the offseason commences following the World Series.
