The Cincinnati Reds beat the Los Angeles Dodgers on Wednesday night by a score of 8-6.

Much of the conversation will be about Will Benson hitting a walk-off home run to give the Reds the win. He joined some pretty special team history with that blast.

The rest of the conversation will be about Reds uber-rookie Elly De La Cruz, who is making baseball history and leading statistical categories after just two career games.

There should be some conversation also about the other side of the coin: What has happened to Noah Syndergaard?

The Dodgers righty surrendered six earned runs in just three innings in the game and now owns an ERA of 7.16 on the season.

ESPN Stats & Info added more context to his struggles:

Dodgers P Noah Syndergaard has allowed 6 ER in 3 IP so far tonight vs the Reds. It's his 4th start allowing 6+ ER this season, tied with Cincinnati's Graham Ashcroft & Oakland's Kyle Muller for the most such starts in MLB this season.

That's certainly not a list you want to be at the top of. Syndergaard had a productive year in 2022, winning 10 total games with the Angels and Phillies and helping Philadelphia get to the World Series, but it just hasn't translated this year.

Lifetime, he's 58-45 with a 3.65 ERA. He made the All-Star team in 2016 with the New York Mets. He paired with Matt Harvey in New York to make one of the most exciting pitching duos in baseball.

The Dodgers are now 35-27 and 2.0 games behind the Diamondbacks in the National League West.
