The Minnesota Twins are reportedly giving a vote of confidence to young second baseman, Eduoard Julien.

The following update comes from the Rotowire fantasy baseball portal:

Julien, who is starting at second base and hitting second Friday against the White Sox, got a vote of confidence with the news that Jorge Polanco (hamstring) will get reps at third base during his rehab assignment, Bobby Nightengale of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.

ANALYSIS
Given that Julien is arguably the game's hottest hitter, with a .593 average and three home runs in his last eight games, the Twins probably would have found a spot for him even if Jorge Polanco didn't add third base to his repertoire, but this news is a nice sign that the Twins may have found their second baseman of the present and future in Julien. While he generally hits second against righties, Julien hasn't started against a lefty since June 19.

Julien spent the last four games torching the Seattle Mariners, so it's not surprising to see him getting a longer leash. The 24-year-old Quebec native is hitting .316 overall with a .391 on-base percentage across two separate major league stints this year. He's got nine homers and 16 RBI and is known for his ability to hit.

The Auburn product also got significant time for Team Canada at the World Baseball Classic this past March.

The Twins are 50-48 on the season and own a 2.0 game lead on the Cleveland Guardians in the American League Central.

First pitch on Friday against the White Sox is 8:10 p.m. ET.
