MLB Insider Suggests Two Key White Sox Players Will Be Dealt, Says Cincinnati Reds Have Checked In

In this story:
The Chicago White Sox were blasted on Friday by the Atlanta Braves, 9-0, to fall to a very disappointing 38-55 on the season.
With the loss, the White Sox have the third-worst record in the American League.
MLB Network Insider Jon Morosi posted on his Threads account a little more about the White Sox mindset at the impending trade deadline.
Sources: Reds have inquired to multiple teams regarding available starting pitchers. The White Sox are one club they’ve contacted. No trade is close at this point. Pending free agents Lucas Giolito and Lance Lynn are likely to be dealt (somewhere) by the Aug. 1 deadline; the status of Dylan Cease is less certain. Cease, a free agent after ‘25, has a 4.30 ERA this season.
So not only does Morosi say that both Giolito and Lynn are likely to be moved, he lists the Reds as a potential suitor.
The Reds do make sense as they are 1) battling for a playoff spot and 2) have dealt with a number of injuries in the starting rotation. Cincinnati is 50-42 and tied for first place in the National League Central and is currently playing without starters Hunter Greene or Nick Lodolo.
The 29-year-old Giolito is 6-5 this season with a 3.45 ERA in 19 starts. He's struck out 117 in 112.1 innings and has made the All-Star Game before. He's a free agent at the end of the season.
The 36-year-old Lynn will also be a free agent at the end of the season. He's 5-8 with a 6.03 ERA.
The trade deadline is August 1.
