Chicago White Sox' GM Addresses the Future of Star Shortstop

In this story:
As the Chicago White Sox try to figure out the best path forward after a disastrous 2023 season, new general manager Chris Getz spoke to reporters this week about one of the biggest situations facing the organization: What to do with shortstop Tim Anderson.
Per the article from 670 the Score in Chicago:
"We have the obvious situation with what are going to do with TA,” Getz said Tuesday when asked about the biggest decision the team faces this offseason. “He has meant so much to this organization and has been an impactful player. We are going to have discussions on what the best step forward for the White Sox is.”
Getz also said the following:
“It must be discussed and deserves an exhaustive discussion because of what he has meant to this organization,” Getz said about Anderson’s contractual option.
Anderson has a $14 million option for next season, which leaves the White Sox several options and possibilities, which is what Getz is weighing.
1) They could exercise it. Anderson could play great and become a great steal at that price.
2) They could exercise it. Anderson could play poorly and the contract could look bad.
3) They could trade him this offseason, possibly selling low on a player who is a prime bounceback candidate.
4) They could trade him this offseason, getting out from a contract that could end up being bad if Anderson continues to regress.
5) The article also referenced the possibility of Anderson changing positions to help all parties. He has played some second base in his career but has primarily appeared at shortstop.
Anderson has had just as dreadful a year as the White Sox as a whole. He's battled injuries and ineffectiveness, hitting just .248 with one home run and 25 RBI. A former All-Star and batting champion, he's stolen just 13 bases as well.
It will be interesting to see how the offseason plays out. The White Sox entered the day on Wednesday with 97 losses.
