The Atlanta Braves will play their first game of the 2023 MLB season Thursday, taking on the Washington Nationals at 1:05 p.m. ET at Nationals Park in Washington D.C. on Opening Day.

Braves manager Brian Snitker will give the ball to his ace, Max Fried, to open the season. Fried placed second in National League Cy Young Award voting in 2022, behind Miami Marlins star Sandy Alcantara.

The Nationals will start Patrick Corbin, as the veteran lefthander begins his fifth season with the club. Corbin has struggled over the last two seasons, logging a 5.82 ERA in 2021 and a 6.31 ERA in 2022.
