The San Francisco Giants will play their first game of the 2023 MLB season Thursday, taking on the New York Yankees at 1:05 p.m. ET on Opening Day.

Manager Gabe Kapler will give the ball to Logan Webb, and for the second straight year, the righty will start on Opening Day.

The Yankees will open the season with their ace Gerrit Cole.

Coming off an impressive showing at spring training, Anthony Volpe will make his rookie debut Thursday, starting at shortstop and batting ninth. Reigning American League MVP Aaron Judge will start in center field and bat second, with first baseman Anthony Rizzo, right fielder Giancarlo Stanton and third baseman Josh Donaldson hitting behind him.
