The Boston Red Sox swept the Toronto Blue Jays this week and made history in the process. The team is now 19-14 and in third place in the American League East.

But on the individual front, there was also some history made. Third baseman Rafael Devers joined an impressive club in team history with his home run on Thursday night.

Per the ESPN Stats & Info Twitter account:

"Rafael Devers' HR in the 8th inning was the 150th of his career. Tonight is his 721st career game, the 3rd fewest games to hit 150 HR in Red Sox franchise history. The only Red Sox to reach 150 HR faster? Ted Williams (664 games) & Jim Rice (711 games)."

Anytime that you can join a list that includes only Hall of Famers, that's impressive. It's also fair to wonder where Devers would be if there hadn't been a pandemic-shortened 2020 season. It's well reported that the Red Sox had an awful 24-36 record that year and that Devers seemed disconnected from the season at times. He hit 11 home runs in 57 games that year, as opposed to 11 in 33 this year.

He's out to a slow start this year average wise, hitting just .240, but the production has been there. He's got 11 home runs and 31 RBI and has posted an .849 OPS.

For his career, he's hitting .281 with the 150 homers and 486 RBIs.

The Red Sox will open up a weekend series with the Philadelphia Phillies on Friday night. First pitch is 7:05 p.m. ET.
