San Francisco Giants OF Reaches Milestone That Comes with Major Money Implications

In this story:
The San Francisco Giants beat the Boston Red Sox on Sunday afternoon in extra-innings by a score of 4-3.
While it was a big day for the Giants, who won the series, it was also a big day for Giants outfielder Michael Conforto.
Per MLBTradeRumors:
Giants outfielder Michael Conforto reached 350 plate appearances on the season during Sunday’s game, and in doing so vested a provision in his contract that converts the second season of his two-year, $36MM contract into a player option. He’ll now have the right to decline that player option, valued at $18MM, and opt back into free agency this offseason.

We certainly don't know yet what Conforto will do. If he plays well enough down the stretch that he thinks he can beat one-year and $18 million, then he'll opt-out. If he doesn't play well down the stretch and thinks that's the best option, then he'll stay.
The 30-year-old is hitting .241 this season with 13 homers and 52 RBI. He's added four stolen bases and a .331 on-base percentage.
He's in his eighth big league season with the Mets and Giants. He had to miss all of 2022 after undergoing shoulder surgery.
For his career, he's a .253 hitter with 145 home runs and 448 RBI. He made the All-Star team for the Mets back in 2017.
The Giants win, coupled with a Dodgers loss, has them at 2.0 games back in the National League West. They are 58-48 on the season and will host the Arizona Diamondbacks on Monday night.
First pitch is 9:45 p.m. ET.
