The Seattle Mariners host the Los Angeles Angels on Monday night in American League West action.

It's the first time this season that the division rivals will meet. Due to the balanced schedule in 2023, these two teams will meet 13 times this year, instead of the 19 under the unbalanced schedule.

The Mariners come into this matchup at 1-3 after struggling out of the gate against the Cleveland Guardians. Here's the line-up for manager Scott Servais.

1) Julio Rodriguez, CF

2) Ty France, 1B

3) Teoscar Hernandez, RF

4) Eugenio Suarez, 3B

5) AJ Pollock, LF

6) Sam Haggerty, 2B

7) Tom Murphy, C

8) Cooper Hummel, DH

9) JP Crawford, SS

SP George Kirby

For the Mariners, a few things stand out here...

1) The Mariners are trying to take advantage of a platoon advantage against the lefty Reid Detmers. Pollock plays in place of the left-handed Jarred Kelenic, while Murphy plays for Cal Raleigh and Hummel plays for Tommy La Stella. Haggerty, a switch-hitter, also takes the place of Kolten Wong.

2) As a result of Wong being out of the lineup, France moves up into the No. 2 spot.

3) Raleigh is out of the lineup, which likely disappoints some Mariners fans, as he's off to a .286 start with four RBIs. Murphy is a good piece to deploy though, as he's a career .259 hitter against lefties. He has 20 career homers vs. lefties.

For the Angels, they line up like this for manager Phil Nevin.

1) Taylor Ward, LF

2) Mike Trout, CF

3) Shohei Ohtani, DH

4) Anthony Rendon, 3B

5) Hunter Renfroe, RF

6) Jake Lamb, 1B

7) Brandon Drury, 2B

8) Gio Urshela, SS

9) Logan O'Hoppe, C

UPDATE: Rendon will sit out tonight as a result of an MLB-issued suspension.

First pitch is scheduled for 9:40 p.m. ET.
