Seattle Mariners Claim Intriguing Bullpen Arm From Arizona Diamondbacks

As the Seattle Mariners look to reload in the bullpen, they have claimed right-hander Collin Snider off waivers from the Arizona Diamondbacks.

As the Seattle Mariners look to reload in the bullpen, they have claimed right-hander Collin Snider off waivers from the Arizona Diamondbacks.

The 28-year-old Tennessee native made his major league debut in 2022, appearing in 62 total games between that year and 2023 with the Kansas City Royals. He's 4-2 lifetime with a 5.93 ERA. He's struck out only 33 batters in 54.2 innings as he appears focus more on a sinker than on missing bats.

After trading away Isaiah Campbell, Prelander Berroa and Justin Topa this offseason, Seattle is looking to build the bullpen back up again. They have Andres Munoz and Matt Brash solidifying the back end, but will also rely on the newly-acquired Gregory Santos and Gabe Speier, as well as Tayler Saucedo.

Beyond that, Seattle has options with Eduard Bazardo, Jackson Kowar, Mauricio Llovera, Carlos Vargas, Austin Voth and Trent Thornton. Each of them, and Snider, are on the 40-man roster. The prevailing thought has been that Voth will get a spot in the bullpen, so there appears to be one or two spots available at this time.

Seattle has had quite a bit of success in the last few years re-working intriguing bullpen arms, so perhaps Snider can be the next success story. Drew Steckenrider, Topa and Paul Sewald all developed huge roles with Seattle's bullpen in the last three years.

The Mariners get set to report to spring training next week and are coming off a season in which they went 88-74 and missed the playoffs by 1.0 game.
