These four players are four of the most important players in franchise history and were all part of the 1995 team that is widely credited for helping save baseball in Seattle. After the team was threatening to move, the Mariners went on a late-season run, winning a playoff series against the New York Yankees. That helped sway public opinion on the team and helped earn the team the right's to a new ballpark - that same ballpark where the All-Star Game was played on Tuesday.
Griffey is widely seen as one of the best players in all of baseball history. He hit 630 career homers over a 22-year career with the Mariners, Reds and White Sox. He was a 13-time All-Star, a 10-time Gold Glover, an MVP and is a member of the Baseball Hall of Fame.
Martinez spent 18 years in the big leagues, all with Seattle. He was a seven-time All-Star and a two-time batting champion who had a lifetime on-base percentage of .418. He is also a Hall of Famer.
Buhner had a 15-year career, making one All-Star team and hitting 310 home runs. He played for the Yankees and Mariners.
Finally, Wilson spent 14 years in the big leagues with the Reds and Mariners, making an All-Star Game in 1996.
The National League beat the American League in the All-Star Game, 3-2.
