In this story:

Atlanta Braves superstar Ronald Acuna Jr. hit two home runs on Thursday night in a victory over the St. Louis Cardinals. For Acuna Jr., they were his 33rd and 34th home runs of the year. Considering he also has 63 stolen bases, Acuna is one of the front runners for the National League MVP award.

Both of Acuna Jr.'s home runs came off of Cardinals legend Adam Wainwright, who had a perfect reaction to Acuna's second blast of the game:

Don't worry, Adam. "WOW" is what all of say when we watch Acuna Jr. play baseball in 2023. Not for nothing, that was an incredibly difficult pitch to hit out of the park, as it was a curveball below the zone that Acuna was able to stay back on and drive to centerfield.

Only truly special players can do that, and Acuna Jr. certainly is.

For Wainwright, he went 5.2 innings in the loss. He surrendered six earned runs and four homers. It's been an unceremonious last season for the Cardinals legend, who is now 3-11 with an 8.19 ERA.

Lifetime, he's 198-128 with a 3.54 ERA. The organization wants to get Wainwright to the 200-win mark, but he's running out of time to get there this season.

The Cardinals are a National League Central-worst 61-79 this season. They will open up a new series with the Cincinnati Reds on Friday night at Great American Ball Park.

First pitch is set for 6:40 p.m. ET as Drew Rom (STL) pitches against Andrew Abbott (CIN).
