St. Louis Cardinals' Projected Starting Rotation After Latest Signings

In this story:
The St. Louis Cardinals have gotten to work this week on re-shaping their starting rotation, signing veterans Lance Lynn and Kyle Gibson to one-year deals with options for 2025.
The Cardinals are looking to help get themselves out of the basement of the National League Central, where they finished in 2023. They have plenty of rotation holes to fill after trading Jack Flaherty and Jordon Montgomery in-season, and seeing Adam Wainwright retire after the season.
While the Cardinals now have a projected starting rotation filled, the internet isn't in love with it:
Per Mariners' opinionist Anders Jorstad on social media:
"Yeah the Cardinals are doing great, definitely don't need the Mariners starters anymore..."

So clearly, he's making a mockery of the rotation. The Cardinals have long-been rumored as a possibility to make a trade with the Mariners for some of their young starting pitching. Jorstad thinks the Cardinals should still want that, with the M's likely acquiring a young hitter in the deal back.
The Cardinals rotation projects as Miles Mikolas, Gibson, Lynn, Steven Matz and Zack Thompson. Four of those starters are over the age of 32 with three of them over 35. It's certainly not a long-term solution for St. Louis.
Matz had a tough year last year, going 4-7 with a 3.86 ERA, while Lynn went 13-11 with an ERA of 5.73. Gibson went 15-9 with a 4.73 and Mikolas went 9-13 with a 4.78 ERA.
Obviously, there is still time for the Cardinals to make additional moves, but right now, that's how the rotation shapes up.
