St. Louis Cardinals teammates Nolan Gorman and Willson Contreras accomplished something on Thursday night that hasn't been done by Cardinals teammates in seven years

Sarah Langs of MLB.com has the information on Twitter:

Nolan Gorman and Willson Contreras are the first duo of Cardinals teammates to each hit multiple HR in the same game since Matt Carpenter and Tommy Pham on 6/26/16

Contreras hit his first home run in the fifth inning, connecting on a three-run shot off of Julio Urias. He then hit another three-run homer in the eighth inning.

As for Gorman, he hit his first home run in the third inning off Urias and hit his second home run also in the eighth inning.

Contreras, who signed a four-year deal in the offseason with St. Louis, is now hitting .256 on the season with five homers and 24 RBI. He's a lifetime .256 hitter as well with 122 home runs.

Gorman went 3-5 on the night and is now hitting .295 with 12 homers and 36 RBI. He doesn't play against lefties usually so he's hammered right-handed pitching. He has an OPS of 1.015. For his career, he's got 26 homers now.

The Cardinals beat the Dodgers, 16-8 and moved to 19-26 with the win. They are now six games back of the Brewers in the National League Central. The Dodgers are 28-17 and remain 2.5 games up on the Diamondbacks in the National League West.

The two teams will play again on Friday at 8:15 p.m. ET.
