Starting Lineups, Pitchers for Detroit Tigers, Philadelphia Phillies March 23 Spring Training Game
The Detroit Tigers will play the Philadelphia Phillies Thursday afternoon at 1:05 p.m. ET at the Phillies' spring training home, BayCare Ballpark in Clearwater, Florida.
Left-hander Bailey Falter will receive the start for the Phillies, in his first appearance of the spring. The last time Falter pitched was when he started Game 4 of the National League Championship Series against the San Diego Padres. Falter allowed four runs on three hits, a walk and a home run, recording just two outs. Both Falter and Padres starter Mike Clevinger failed to get out of the first inning. It was the first time in a postseason game that neither starting pitcher recorded three outs since Game 4 of the 1932 World Series between the Chicago Cubs and the New York Yankees. The Phillies would go on to win 10-6, taking a 3-1 series lead, before clinching the club's first National League Pennant since 2009.
Former 2016 first round MLB Draft pick Joey Wentz will take the mound for the Tigers Thursday. Wentz was drafted by the Braves, but the Tigers acquired him in 2019 in a trade for relief pitcher Shane Greene.
