The San Francisco Giants will play the San Diego Padres Monday at 4:10 p.m. ET at the Padres' spring training home, the Peoria Sports Complex in Peoria, Arizona.

Sean Manaea will start for the Giants. After achieving success in the Oakland Athletics' pitching rotation, the San Diego Padres acquired him and Aaron Holiday from the A's last April in exchange for Adrian Martinez and Euribiel Angeles. After a disappointing 2022 season in which Manaea posted an 8-9 record and 4.96 ERA over 28 starts, Manaea signed a two-year, $25 million contract with the Giants. Monday, he will pitch against his former team.

Brent Honeywell will take the mound for the Padres, opposite Manaea. A second round pick in the 2014 MLB Draft out of Walters State Community College, Honeywell emerged as one of the top prospects in the Tampa Bay Rays' farm system. Honeywell was traded to A's in November 2021 for cash considerations. Dealing with an elbow injury, Honeywell pitched in the A's farm system in 2022. Honeywell, 27, signed a major league deal with the Padres in January.
