The St. Louis Cardinals will open a three-game series against the Colorado Rockies Monday evening at 8:40 p.m. ET at Coors Field in Denver, Colorado.

The Cardinals are off to a slow start, entering play Monday at 3-6. Steven Matz (0-1, 6.75 ERA) will hope to kick his club into gear with a win Monday night, as he makes his second start of the season. Matz signed a four-year, $44 million contract with the Cardinals following his impressive 2021 season with the Toronto Blue Jays. Matz missed a significant chunk of his first season in St. Louis due to injury. The Cardinals hope he can make the type of impact they expected him to make, when they signed him in November 2021.

German Marquez (1-1, 4.76 ERA) will make his third start of the season, starting for the Rockies Monday night.

Cardinals third baseman Nolan Arenado will make yet another return to Coors Field Monday night. The Cardinals acquired Arenado in a trade with the Rockies prior to the 2021 Major League season. Arenado won his first division title last season, as a member of the Cardinals.
