The St. Louis Cardinals (9-13) will open a four-game series with the San Francisco Giants (8-13) Monday night at 9:45 p.m. ET at Oracle Park in San Francisco, California.

Two years ago, both the Cardinals and Giants were playoff teams. Now, both clubs find themselves in fourth place in their respective divisions. The Cardinals enter Monday's game 6.5 games back of the Pittsburgh Pirates for first place in the National League Central. The Giants are only three games back of the NL West-leading Arizona Diamondbacks and Los Angeles Dodgers. The season is still early, but a series win could go a long way for either team, as both clubs attempt to get back on track.

Jordan Montgomery (2-2, 4.84 ERA) will make his fifth start of the season Monday night for the Cardinals, coming off his worst performance in a Redbirds' uniform. The Arizona Diamondbacks tagged seven runs off ten hits and one home run last week, in Montgomery's last outing. Prior to his last start, he had pitched very well, logging a 2.45 ERA through his first three starts.

Veteran Alex Cobb (0-1, 2.79 ERA) will take the mound for the Giants Monday, in search of his first win of the season.
