Texas Rangers, Arizona Diamondbacks Reveal Pitching Plans For Game 4 of World Series

With Game 3 of the World Series set for Monday night, the Texas Rangers and Arizona Diamondbacks have revealed their pitching plans for Game 4 on Tuesday.

The World Series picks back up on Monday night with the Arizona Diamondbacks and Texas Rangers tied at one game apiece in the best-of-seven series.

As the series shifts to Phoenix, Game 3 will feature D'Backs rookie Brandon Pfaadt pitching against veteran right-hander Max Scherzer of the Rangers.

While all attention is focused on Game 3, the two teams have revealed their pitching plans (mostly) for Game 4, which takes place on Tuesday.

Per Bob Nightengale of USA Today:

Jon Gray will start Game 4 for the Texas Rangers while the Arizona Diamondbacks will go with a bullpen game.

The Diamondbacks have yet to announce a starter for Game 4, and it likely depends on what arms they need to use in Game 3. The D'Backs used a bullpen game in Game 4 of the NLCS and started lefty Joe Mantiply, who threw one inning.

As for Gray, he threw 1.2 innings in Game 1 of this series in relief. He struck out four. Since coming back from an injury sustained at the end of the regular season, he's made two postseason appearances, throwing 2.2 innings. It's unknown how long he can go for manager Bruce Bochy, but he'll give the team what he has. This decision knocks him out of use in Game 3, barring significant extra innings.

This season, Gray went 9-8 with a 4.12 ERA. Lifetime, he's 69-64 with a 4.45. He has pitched for the Rockies and Rangers over his nine-year career.

Game 3 is 8:03 p.m. ET on Monday while Game 4 is the same time on Tuesday.
