The Chicago White Sox have set their pitching rotation to open the 2023 season. For the first time in his career, Dylan Cease will start on Opening Day.

Lucas Giolito had started for the club on Opening Day to begin each of the White Sox' last three seasons. Giolito will slot in as the club's no. 3 starter this season, with Lance Lynn starting the club's second game of 2023.

The White Sox will open with a four-game series in Houston against the Astros. The first game will be played Thursday night at 6:00 p.m. ET on ESPN. Lynn will pitch on Friday and Giolito will start on Saturday. Sunday, White Sox manager Pedro Grifol will give the ball to Mike Clevinger. The San Diego Padres acquired Clevinger from the Cleveland Indians during the COVID-shortened 2020 season. Clevinger missed the entire 2021 season after undergoing Tommy John surgery. Clevinger posted a 7-7 record and 4.33 ERA in 22 starts last season. He signed a one-year, $8 million contract with the White Sox in December.

Michael Kopech will round out the White Sox' five-man pitching rotation, making his first start of the 2023 season Monday against the San Francisco Giants.
