Washington Nationals Announce Series of Roster Moves, Including DFA-ing Former Top Prospect

The Washington Nationals made a series of roster announcements, including some injury news on Victor Robles and the DFA-ing of former top prospect Jeter Downs.

The Washington Nationals have announced a series of news and notes this week.

First, with regards to signing reliever Dylan Floro:

The following comes from the Rotowire fantasy baseball portal.

Floro signed a one-year, $2.25 million contract with the Nationals on Tuesday.

ANALYSIS
Floro posted a 2.85 ERA and 1.18 WHIP with the Dodgers and Marlins between 2020-22, but his numbers declined sharply last season with a 4.76 ERA and 1.54 WHIP across 56.2 frames. Hoping for a return to form from Floro, the Nationals will add him to their bullpen, and the 32-year-old righty will likely work in middle relief to begin the year. Jeter Downs was designated for assignment in a corresponding move.

Floro is now 32-years-old and a veteran of eight years. He's pitched with the Rays, Cubs, Reds, Dodgers and Marlins. He helped the Dodgers win the 2020 World Series and then saved 15 games for the 2021 Marlins.

Lifetime, he's 26-22 with a 3.42 ERA.

As for Downs, he is a former MLB top prospect. He reached as high as No. 44 on the MLB.com Top 100 in 2020.

He came up as a member of the Los Angeles Dodgers before heading to Boston in the Mookie Betts trade before the 2020 season. Thus far, it hasn't worked for him at the major league level. He's a .182 hitter over just 44 career at-bats. He is still just 25 years old.

Finally, the team relayed some injury news on outfielder Victor Robles, who has started playing in the Dominican Winter League after recovering from a back injury.
