The Boston Red Sox hit three home runs in the first inning on Monday against the Pittsburgh Pirates and starting pitcher Johan Oviedo. The Sox trailed 3-0 entering the bottom of the first but then Rafael Devers, Masataka Yoshida and Triston Casas each homered to put the Sox up 5-3 at the end of the inning.

It was the first home run of the season for all three players and helped the Red Sox erase yet another deficit in the early going of this season. It was also a continuation of the Sox power surge this season. The team has eight home runs in 28 innings at the time of this posting.

Here's a look at all three home runs:

The Devers home run came on a 1-0 pitch. It was an elevated fastball that went out to dead center field. Devers hit 27 homers in 2022 after hitting a career-high 38 in 2021.

Yoshida's home run was a two-run home run that came on a 96-mph fastball, also elevated.

It was the first home of his major league career after hitting 21 a season ago in Japan. He's known as a guy who can hit the ball to all fields, and that was on display with this shot here to left field.

For Casas, he didn't get all of it, but he was able to wrap the two-run home run just inside the Pesky Pole in right.

Casas made his major league debut last year, hitting five home runs in 27 games. His development this year will be a major part of the Red Sox offensive attack.

The Sox entered Monday's game at 2-1 on the season after taking two of three from the Orioles.
