Chicago Cubs third baseman Patrick Wisdom continued to build upon his strong start to the new season Monday night, launching his seventh home run of the year. Wisdom has now homered in four straight games, after hitting a home run in each of the Cubs' three games in Los Angeles over the weekend.

Wisdom is now tied for second in Major League Baseball in home runs with Boston Red Sox third baseman Rafael Devers. Wisdom and Devers trail only New York Mets first baseman Pete Alonso, who leads the Majors with eight home runs.

To go with his seven long balls, Wisdom has 10 RBI and is batting .271 with a .340 On Base Percentage and 1.090 OPS.

The St. Louis cardinals selected Wisdom with the 52nd overall selection in the 2012 Major League Baseball Draft, out of Saint Mary's College of California.

After making his Major League debut and appearing in 32 games in the 2018 season, the Cardinals swapped him for Drew Robinson from the Texas Rangers. Wisdom played nine games for the Rangers in 2019. Upon the conclusion of the season, he signed a one-year Major League contract with the Seattle Mariners.

Wisdom signed a minor league deal with the Cubs in August 2020. He broke out in 2021, smashing 28 home runs in 106 games for the Cubs. Wisdom finished fourth in National League Rookie of the Year voting. He followed up his impressive 2021 with 25 more home runs last season.
