Cincinnati Reds third baseman Nick Senzel blasted a two-run, walk-off home run off Texas Rangers reliever Jonathan Hernandez Wednesday afternoon at the Great American Ballpark, as the Reds defeated the Rangers 5-3.

With a runner on second base in the bottom of the ninth inning, Senzel sent a pitch from Hernandez over the left field wall, giving the Reds the win.

Senzel's 2023 season had been off to a slow start. He entered play Wednesday with a slash line of .200/.273/.498, but perhaps the walk-off will jumpstart his bat. The blast was Senzel's first of the season.

With the victory, the Reds completed a sweep of the Texas Rangers, who currently are in first place in the American League West division, leading the Houston Astros by a game.

The Reds entered the series playing what may have been their worst baseball of the season. The club had lost its last six games and were outscored 30-6 by their opponents during that time.

Now, the Reds are picking up steam, completing a sweep of a division leader. Cincinnati will enjoy a day off Thursday, before beginning a three-game series in Oakland, taking on the Athletics. The A's have the worst record in baseball, standing at 5-19. These will be three very winnable games for David Bell's squad.

The Rangers finally showed signs of weakness in Cincinnati. Dropping from 14-7 to 14-10, the club will now host the New York Yankees for a four-game series at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas.
