Down 7-0 in the second inning Tuesday night at Wrigley Field, the Chicago Cubs did not lose heart.

The Cubs got a run back on a Yan Gomes RBI single in the bottom of the second, then erupted for eight runs in the bottom of the third, capped by a grand slam from right fielder Nelson Velazquez, which gave the Cubs an 8-7 lead.

Velazquez made his first start of the season Tuesday night, after beginning the season in Triple-A Iowa. With Seiya Suzuki out, manager David Ross has played Miles Mastrobuoni and Trey Mancini in right field. Tuesday, Velazquez received the start in right.

Velazquez is off to a terrific start. Through his first two at bats, he is 2-for-2 with a 1.000 Batting Average and a grand slam.
