In one of the more iconic moments in recent baseball memory, Los Angeles Angels star Shohei Ohtani struck out Los Angeles Angels star Mike Trout to close out the World Baseball Classic.

The strikeout gave Japan its third WBC title and denied Team USA a chance to repeat as champions. Despite the ending for Trout, who served as the captain of the American squad, he says it was a really great experience.

He detailed that experience in a sit down with Harold Reynolds of the MLB Network on Wednesday. You can see his full comments below:

"I think the WBC was, looking back, was going in, I don't want to say the wrong direction, but there wasn't that much excitement about it. But this one was unbelievable.... That experience was unbelievable, I've never seen anything like it. It was loud, the fans were great. It was incredible."

Trout also said that the experience motivated him to get back to the playoffs with the Angels, who are looking for their first playoff win since 2009.

The Angels enter play on Wednesday at 9-8 overall and in second place in the American League West. As for Trout, he's out to another great start, hitting .293 with three home runs and nine RBI.

A no-doubt Hall of Famer, Trout is a lifetime .303 hitter with 353 home runs and 905 RBI. HE has stolen 204 career bases and has a lifetime OPS of 1.002.

The Angels and Yankees will wrap up their series on Thursday at 4:05 p.m. ET.
