Chicago White Sox infielder Tim Anderson is excited to play in Tuesday night's World Baseball Classic title game.

"This is kind of my World Series at the moment," Anderson told reporters prior to Tuesday's game.

Anderson has yet to play in a World Series. The 29-year-old has played seven Major League seasons, all with the White Sox. In his time with the club, the White Sox have appeared in the postseason twice.

Chicago reached the postseason for the first time since 2008 in the COVID-shortened 2020 season. The White Sox went 35-25 and lost a best-of-three Wild Card Series to the Oakland Athletics.

The following season, the White Sox won the American League Central division for the first time in 13 years. For the second straight year, the White Sox were eliminated by an American League West team, this time falling to the Houston Astros in four games in the American League Division Series.

The White Sox last played in a World Series in 2005. Prior to that, the club had not won an American League Pennant since 1959.

The White Sox entered 2022 with lofty aspirations. The club was heavily favored to win the American League Central division title, but ended up finishing at 81-81, eleven games back of the division champion Cleveland Guardians.

Under rookie manager Pedro Grifol, the White Sox are hoping to return to the postseason in 2023 and compete for a World Series title. For now, however, Anderson is locked in to the World Baseball Classic.

After beginning the tournament on the bench, backing up Philadelphia Phillies shortstop Trea Turner, Anderson has become Team USA manager Mark DeRosa's go-to second baseman down the stretch of the WBC. Anderson had no prior experience playing second base at the Major League level, but has excelled in a small sample size.

He will bat eighth and play second base for Team USA in Tuesday night's WBC Championship game.
