AEW News: Major Former WWE Star Set To Undergo Significant Medical Procedure

This AEW star will be out for a while.

One AEW star figures to be on the shelf for a while.

Injuries are nothing new in the world of pro wrestling and sports entertainment. Both AEW and WWE have been plagued by injuries past and present. Over on the WWE side, the company will be without CM Punk for a few months due to a torn triceps. Seth Rollins is also injured, but he's making a strong push to be available for WrestleMania 40.

In the case of this AEW talent, he will be undergoing a major medical procedure.

Paul Wight, formerly known as "Big Show" in WWE and "The Giant" in WCW, has revealed that he will be having knee surgery soon. Wight recently told a fan on the Jericho Cruise that it'll be a partial knee replacement.

Wight, who has served as an in-ring performer and commentator for AEW, hasn't seen much air time with the promotion. With that said, the biggest match he was a part of under the company saw him take a scoop slam onto a car courtesy of Powerhouse Hobbs. It was definitely a memorable spot that had fans buzzing over whether or not it should've happened.

There is no word on when Paul Wight plans to undergo knee surgery, and if AEW has anything planned for him on TV before he gets the procedure done.
