VIDEO: MMA Fighter Has Leg Snapped in Half by a Roundhouse Kick at Oktagon 44

Where injuries are concerned, few can match the gut-wrenching nature of what just transpired at Oktagon 44 on June 17. Mateusz Strzelczyk found himself on the receiving end of a potentially career-ending blow as Rafael Xavier unleashed a roundhouse kick that snapped his shinbone in half.
Warning: this is not for the faint of heart:
After enduring a tremendous beatdown over the course of two and a half rounds, Strzelczyk lifted his leg to land a front kick on his Xavier, who simultaneously launched a roundhouse kick. Xavier's knee smacked into the shinbone of Strzelczyk and produced a cringe-worthy "snap" when Strzelczyk stepped back on his foot, his shinbone snapped in half and he fell to the floor where the fight was waved off.

It's a devastating injury, and the road to recovery for Strzelczyk is a long one --- if he decides to return to MMA at all. It's not impossible to return, but the long-lasting mental and physical ramifications will always be always there.
Anderson Silva returned from snapping his shin against Chris Weidman, and Chris Weidman is returning in August after snapping his shin against Uriah Hall. Silva was never the same fighter, but time will tell for Weidman and Strzelczyk.
