UPDATE: Former NBA 3rd Overall Pick Will Reportedly Play In The G League

According to Michael Scotto of HoopsHype, Derrick Favors (who was most recently with the Atlanta Hawks) will play in the G League this season.

UPDATE: Derrick Favors has signed a training camp deal with the Chicago Bulls.

Derrick Favors most recently played in the NBA during the 2021-22 season when he was a member of the Oklahoma City Thunder.

That season, he appeared in 39 games and had averages of 5.3 points and 4.7 rebounds per contest while shooting 51.6% from the field.

Last year, Favors signed a ten-day contract with the Atlanta Hawks but did not appear in a game.

On Saturday, Michael Scotto of HoopsHype reported that Favors will play in the G League this season (he also did an interview with Favors, which can be read here).

Via Scotto: "Sources: NBA veteran Derrick Favors will play in the G League. Favors discussed being involved in Deron Williams and Carmelo Anthony trade talks, why the Jazz fell short in the Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert era and his potential NBA return on @hoopshype"

Favors was initially the third pick in the 2010 NBA Draft out of Georgia Tech.

Over 12 seasons in the NBA, he has played for the New Jersey Nets, Utah Jazz, New Orleans Pelicans and Oklahoma City Thunder.

His career averages are 10.6 points, 7.1 rebounds and 1.1 assists per contest while shooting 53.4% from the field in 790 regular season games (he has also appeared in 42 NBA playoff games).

Favors is still just 32 and has proven to be an excellent role player during his time in the NBA.

The 2023-24 NBA season will begin in less than two weeks, so if Favors plays well in the G League, he will be a name to watch over the next few months.
