Phoenix Suns Release 4-Year NBA Player

The Phoenix Suns have waived Theo Maledon.

On Tuesday evening, the Phoenix Suns will face off against Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets in Colorado.

Before the game (on Monday), the team announced that they had waived Theo Maledon.

Maledon had played in four games for the Suns and averaged 1.3 points per contest.

The Suns then used their open roster spot to sign Ish Wainright.

Via The Phoenix Suns on Monday: "The Phoenix Suns today announced that the team has signed free agent forward Ish Wainright to a two-way contract. Earlier today, the Suns waived guard Théo Maledon."

Maledon was the 34th pick in the 2020 NBA Draft and spent the majority of his career with the Charlotte Hornets.

His career averages are 7.8 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.9 assists per contest while shooting 37.2% from the field and 31.0% from the three-point range in 177 regular season games.

Despite being in his fourth NBA season, Maledon is only 22 years old, so he could be a good pickup for another team once he clears waivers.

As for the Suns, they are currently the sixth seed in the Western Conference with a 35-26 record in 61 games.

They are 5-5 over their last ten games and also in the middle of a two-game losing streak.

Most recently, the Suns lost to the Oklahoma City Thunder by a score of 118-110.

Following their matchup with the Nuggets, they will play their next game on Thursday evening when they return home to host the Toronto Raptors in Arizona.
