Hampton and Williams Tie for First with Blazing 1.7-Second Runs at Huntsville Rodeo

JJ Hampton and Hali Williams tied for first place at the Walker County Fair & Pro Rodeo in Huntsville, Texas, with their blazing-fast 1.7-second runs in the breakaway roping.

Breakaway ropers stole the spotlight amidst the dust and adrenaline of the Walker County Fair & Pro Rodeo in Huntsville, Texas, held on March 29-30.

Among the standout performances were those of 17-time WPRA World Champion JJ Hampton and NFBR qualifier Hali Williams. Both ropers showcased blazing-fast skills, clocking in at1.7 seconds, and earning $2,291 each.

Additionally, Braylee Shepherd, Sierra Spratt and Addie Weil demonstrated their skills with swift times of 1.9 seconds, securing $1,488 each.

Cash Fretwell emerged as the star cowboy of the event, earning the coveted All-around cowboy title and $1,488 for his versatility and talent in tie-down roping and steer roping.

Other champions of the Walker County Fair & Pro include:

  • Kashton Ford's commanding performance in bareback riding, notching an impressive 84.5-point ride aboard Korkow Rodeos' Onion Ring, earning $1,053.
  • Rowdy Parrott's lightning-fast execution in steer wrestling, securing $1,820 with a takedown in 4.1 seconds.
  • Kaleb Driggers and Junior Nogueira's triumphant display in team roping, clinching victory with a time of 3.8 seconds, and each earning $2,238.
  • Sterling Crawley's masterful ride in saddle bronc riding, scoring 86 points aboard Korkow Rodeos' Pushing Daisies, and securing $1,148.
  • Zack Jongbloed's dominant performance in tie-down roping, with a swift time of 8.0 seconds, earning $1,622.
  • Preslie Reid's blazing run in barrel racing, clocking in at 17.40 seconds, to clinch the top spot and $1,729.
  • Trey Benton III and Donovan Rutherfurd's electrifying rides in bull riding, each scoring 85 points aboard Smith Pro Rodeos' Pain Killer and Island Time, respectively, and earning $1,131.
